Garrett Richards earned the win while pitching at Fenway Park for the first time since suffering a ruptured left patellar tendon last August. The righty gave up nine hits and five runs over six innings. Rick Porcello took the loss -- his first since April 19.
The storyline coming in for the Red Sox was their recent lack of offense. They seemed poised to snap out of the funk in this one, taking a 3-2 lead through four innings. Mike Napoli hit a mammoth homer to the back of the Monster seats in left-center in the second to open the scoring for Boston.
