Liverpool have been handed a significant blow ahead of their clash with Leicester after Jordan Henderson was ruled out with injury.
Henderson, Liverpool's influential captain, has not travelled to the East Midlands for Monday night's game because of a badly bruised foot.
He sustained the issue in training but Liverpool were hoping it would settle down enough over the weekend for him to be included in the squad for a game that is crucial to their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
There is no suggestion that Henderson has suffered any bone damage but the problem is sufficiently severe to cast a doubt on whether he will be available to line up against Arsenal on Saturday.
