Leicester could be without Kasper Schmeichel until after Christmas, admits Claudio Ranieri

Claudio Ranieri has revealed Kasper Schmeichel may not return from injury in time for Leicester's Christmas schedule.

The Danish goalkeeper has been out since breaking his right hand and undergoing surgery at the start of November, and the initial prognosis was six weeks on the sidelines.

But Ranieri has tweaked that estimation, adding a possible fortnight onto Schmeichel's recovery period and meaning Ron Robert-Zieler's role deputising in goal would be extended.

Schmeichel has started to train with goalkeeping coach Mike Stowell, having taken part in sessions as an outfield player previously, but Ranieri believes his fitness still needs time.
