Mark Stoops pleased after Kentucky’s second straight win

Is Kentucky’s season starting to turn around after a miserable start? After Saturday’s 17-10 victory over South Carolina, the answer: maybe.

Wildcats coach Mark Stoops said the team’s offense, defense and special teams all performed when it counted in the SEC East win.

“That’s the way this football team needs to play, with that passion and energy that every fan expects,” he said.

In the win, Kentucky rushed for 216 rushing yards. Boom Williams rumbled for 123 yards and freshman Benny Snell gained 73 more, including the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The contrast between the two backs, Stoops said, opens up new possibilities in the Kentucky ground game.
