Mark Stoops getting used to tight finishes after Kentucky’s latest victory

Kentucky coach Mark Stoops says he considers the SEC the most competitive conference. So nail-biting finishes are nothing new.

“Our league, the difference in wins and losses is as tight as any league outside of the NFL,” Stoops said after Saturday’s victory against Mississippi State.

The implications on the field?

“You’re going to have some tight games,” Stoops said. “So you’d better win some.”

The Wildcats did exactly that Saturday, defeating Mississippi State, 40-38, in a wild, back-and-forth game when kicker Austin MacGinnis nailed a 51-yard field goal as time expired to beat the Bulldogs for the first time since 2008.
