Former University of Akron soccer standout Richie Laryea made his Major League Soccer debut for Orlando City on Saturday.
“It is always excited to see former great players for the University of Akron get their chance in the MLS,” Akron coach Jared Embick said in a news release. “I know Richie has worked hard for this opportunity and it has been a long time coming. I thought he did really well in his debut. I look forward to seeing him in more games in the future.”
Laryea entered Orlando City’s road match against the Chicago Fire in the 64th minute when he subbed in for Kaká.
