Kent State men’s basketball: Golden Flashes look to limit mistakes, snap two-game skid at Western Michigan

KENT: As Kent State boarded the bus to Western Michigan, coach Rob Senderoff referenced a team the Golden Flashes aren’t scheduled to face this season.

West Virginia, ranked No. 10 in the latest Associated Press poll, leads the nation with 12.9 steals per game. That’s considerably more than either of the Flashes’ most recent two opponents — Ohio and Northern Illinois — typically record.

But the Bobcats and Huskies combined to force Kent State into 40 turnovers and snatch 26 steals in beating the Flashes 85-67 and 74-70 in overtime, respectively.

“This is not taking away from anybody who we played, but I’m assuming that’s the most steals Ohio’s had in 15 years playing us.
