MANHATTAN— Kansas State held the seventh annual Mark A. Chapman Powercat Choice Awards on Monday with the top team awards going to the 2015 men’s and women’s track and field teams, while Cody Whitehair (football) and Akela Jones (track) were selected male and female athlete of the year.
Voting, conducted among members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, was based on sports from the spring of 2015 through winter of 2016.
The men’s basketball team’s victory over No. 1-ranked Oklahoma was voted top moment and Jeff Mittie was coach of the year for leading the women’s basketball team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
