Jesse Ertz named starting quarterback for K-State football's first game Saturday against South Dakota

Sophomore Jesse Ertz has been named starting quarterback for K-State, coach Bill Snyder announced Tuesday morning at his weekly news conference.

Ertz will start in the Wildcats’ game at 6 p.m. Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium against South Dakota.

Snyder said Ertz won the starting quarterback job by performing with consistency.

The backup quarterbacks listed on the depth chart released Tuesday are Joe Hubener or Alex Delton.

Quarterback Jonathan Banks will redshirt, and Snyder said it was his option and decision.
