Bats come alive in 11-4 win over West Virginia

The moment Quintin Crandall’s eighth-inning home run disappeared over the left-field wall Sunday afternoon, Kansas State had no reason to fret.

The shortstop’s solo shot handed the Wildcats a 9-4 lead over No. 21 West Virginia, and backed by a pitching staff that hadn’t allowed a run since the fifth, the Wildcats had every right to feel confident.

If K-State felt good then, it certainly felt even better when Jake Scudder and Josh Rolette rocked home runs of their own minutes later en route to an 11-4 series-clinching win over the Mountaineers, K-State’s first Big 12 series win of the season.
