LAWRENCE — If Tony Hull ever senses homesickness in any of the Louisiana-born greenhorns on the Kansas football team, the running backs coach seeks a recipe to fix that.
Yes, a literal recipe.
Hull, in his first season at KU after nine years leading Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, has at times accommodated the Jayhawks’ five Louisiana natives — all underclassmen — by contacting their parents for a bit of home cooking by way of the Bayou State.
“Maybe it’s their mom’s red beans, where I want to work with their mom to where we can get it shipped out here and (they) can have it,” Hull said.
