AMES, Iowa (AP) Iowa's State 13-year drought in Big 12 openers is finished, thanks partly to a Kansas team that could be in for a very long league season.

Mike Warren set an Iowa State freshman record with 175 yards rushing and two TDs, and the Cyclones throttled Kansas 38-13 Saturday to begin conference play with a victory for the first time since 2002.

Sam Richardson threw for 269 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Cyclones (2-2, 1-0 Big 12).
