NORMAN, Okla. — If he were to let Bill Self’s halftime message slip, Frank Mason knew he might be in hot water.
No, it wouldn’t be with his coach, a future hall-of-famer who by several accounts lit into the team at the half as it faced a nine-point deficit Tuesday against Oklahoma. Presumably, that hot water might have come with the censors, or whoever manages the bleep button at press conferences, as the No. 2 Jayhawks rallied to top the Sooners, 81-70, in Lloyd Noble Center.
“Uh, can’t tell you the message, but you know it was—” Mason began, pausing to let out a laugh.
