When asked for her impression of highly touted Kansas basketball freshman Josh Jackson, Karen Darting gave an answer that most mothers could appreciate.
“He made his own bed,’’ exclaimed Darting, wife of legendary Highland Park coach Ken Darting, after Jackson stayed with the Dartings earlier this year.
In fact, Karen and Ken Darting said a highlight of the summer has been getting to know Jackson, whose mother, Apples (Jones), played for Ken at Allen County Community College.
“It’s been amazing and to know someone that you coached and now this is their child, to watch that go full circle is just really phenomenal and really just makes you smile inside and out,’’ Karen Darting said.
