The Kansas men’s basketball program earned a public recognition award for academic performance for the eighth straight year, the NCAA announced on Wednesday.
The honor — officially titled the NCAA Academic Performance Program Public Recognition Award — is awarded to programs that achieve Academic Progress Rate (APR) success in the top-10 percent of all NCAA Division I men’s basketball programs.
Just six men’s basketball programs have earned as many or more public recognition awards than Kansas’ eight — and none of those schools reside in an NCAA power five conference. The list includes academic heavyweights Belmont (10), Davidson (10), Holy Cross (10), Bucknell (9), Elon (8) and Penn (8).
