Bill Self is borrowing from a friend for his team's upcoming World University Games competition.

Nic Moore, a 5-foot-9 guard from SMU, will compete with KU when it travels to Gwangju, South Korea from July 3-14.

Moore plays for Self's mentor and friend Larry Brown at SMU.

"With our relationship with Jank (assistant coach Tim Jankovich) and coach Brown, they said if we needed anybody, they have a kid that would love to go, that kid being Nic," Self said. "We're taking the American Athletic Conference player of the year. They do a lot of the same things we do, so it will be an easy blend for our guys.
