Matt Strahm made his Major League debut with Kansas City on July 31, allowing a run in 0.1 inning.

Starting with his second appearance on Aug. 2 through Sept. 10, he recorded 16.1 consecutive scoreless innings over 13 outings, the longest scoreless-innings streak by a Royal in 2016. During the streak, he held opponents to a .132 average (7-for-53) and allowed just five walks (2.76 BB/9) compared to 21 strikeouts (11.57 SO/9).

It marked the longest streak by a Royals rookie since Yordano Ventura went 18.0 consecutive scoreless innings in 2014.
