The Royals may or may not be buyers at the August 1 trade deadline, but if they do decide to bring on another starting pitcher, struggling Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz could be an option. Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports the Royals have interest in the right-hander who was recently demoted to the bullpen. Cafardo writes that the Red Sox would have to pick up a chunk of the salary owed Buchholz, about $6 million this season, plus a $500,000 buyout on a $13.5 million club option for next season.
