Royals' next wave of prospects heating up

Royals manager Ned Yost was impressed with O'Hearn this spring, and O'Hearn is off to a blazing start at Triple-A Omaha. After collecting 32 doubles, 22 home runs and 78 RBIs combined between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha last year, the Royals' No. 7-rated prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, is hitting .338 with five home runs and 11 RBIs in 17 games for Omaha this season.

Royals assistant general manager J.J. Picollo describes O'Hearn as a "gamer."

"He's coachable, too," Picollo said. "Defense is getting better. Hard-nosed type."

Of course, most Royals fans know about right-hander Josh Staumont by now.
