Royals’ Brett Eibner makes rain-delayed big-league debut tonight against White Sox

Brett Eibner’s scheduled major-league debut required a rain check, but in this case a dampened enthusiasm wasn’t a bad thing.

“I was able to burn off some of the excitement,” Eibner said. “(Friday) was a lot easier. I was back in my routine and get prepared for today’s game.”

Eibner was slotted in the designated hitter’s role and scheduled to bat eighth against the White Sox Friday, just as he was Thursday before thunderstorms washed away the game. The rainout was rescheduled for Sept. 19.

Eibner, 27, was summoned to Kansas City on Thursday when the Royals placed third baseman Mike Moustakas on the disabled list with a torn ACL.
