Royals manager Ned Yost met with the media ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Drew Butera spells Salvador Perez behind the plate today. Lately, Butera has been working more often with today’s starter Jason Hammel, though Yost stopped short of saying it was a personal catcher-type of arrangement, chalking it more up to coincidence of Hammel’s starts lining up with Perez’s off days.
Yost also praised Butera for his increased production at the plate, as well as his propensity to be well-prepared every day, even if he is not catching.
