Royals Place Brett Eibner On Disabled List, Make Several Other Roster Moves

The Kansas City Royals continue to battle an injury-plagued season, and have placed yet another player on the disabled list. The Royals put OF Brett Eibner, who was called up less than a week ago, on the DL with an ankle sprain. But that's not the only move Kansas City announced today.

Coming up to replace Eibner is outfielder Reymond Fuentes. The Royals have also promoted right-handed pitcher Peter Moylan and demoted right-hander Dillon Gee.

Eibner was carted off the field Tuesday after landing awkwardly. He had been playing well since being promoted, going 6 for 13 at the plate.

Gee had struggled in his last two starts, giving up a combined 10 runs in his last two starts. Gee's demotion means Chris Young will return to the starting rotation. He was activated off the DL over the weekend.

This is the second stint for Moylan this year. The 37-year-old posted a 2-0 record and a 2.45 ERA in limited work this year before being sent down to the minors to make room for Young. Eibner's injury allowed Kansas City to skip the usual 10-day waiting period.
