The Royals placed All-Star closer Greg Holland on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday with a right pectoral strain. The club recalled fellow right-hander Yohan Pino from Triple-A Omaha to take Holland's place on the active roster.
Holland apparently suffered the injury while working a scoreless ninth inning of the Royals' 6-4 win against the Athletics for his fourth save of the season Friday night. The 29-year-old closer hasn't allow a hit over four innings in four scoreless outings this season.
