For the 25th consecutive year, the Chiefs and the Kansas City community are celebrating Red Friday, the official kickoff event for the start of the football season. Red Friday will take place on Friday, Sept. 9, two days before the Chiefs open the season against the San Diego Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium.
Honoring the long-standing tradition started by Lamar Hunt and the Chiefs Red Coaters, Red Friday newspapers, magazines and flags have been sold to raise money for local charities. For the third consecutive year, Chiefs Kingdom flags will be available to fans at over 130 McDonald’s locations throughout the greater Kansas City area.
