Jaguars deal reliable veteran kicker Josh Scobee to Steelers

Calling it the most difficult personnel move since becoming Jaguars general manager in January 2013, Dave Caldwell traded veteran kicker Josh Scobee to the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday for a sixth-round pick in next year’s draft.

The move means the Jaguars are betting big on 24-year old Jason Myers, who has no NFL regular season experience but whose leg strength has impressed the organization since his arrival in March.

“Easily the toughest decision we’ve had in our time here,” Caldwell said during a media conference call. “It wasn’t an easy decision but it was a decision that we knew we were going to be facing about halfway through the off-season if Jason kept kicking the way he was kicking.
