Jaguars defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks was walking into Wolfson's Children's Hospital on Saturday when he got the call.
Khameyea Jennings' fight with liver cancer was over.
Jennings, 18, died three weeks after Marks escorted her to the Frank H. Peters Academy of Technology prom. Marks drove Jennings at the event in his Lamborghini.
"I was at the hospital coming to see here when she died," Marks said. "It was very sad, but her and her family had a strong relationship with God. They were thankful for the time they had with Khameyea. I wanted them to know I was ready to help with anything they needed.
