The streak will be over soon.
The last two NFL Drafts did not feature a running back selected in the first round.
Expect Georgia’s Todd Gurley and Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon to run over that streak. The two headline a deep group of running backs.
The Jaguars will likely use one of their first four selections on a running back, with the second-round choice (36th overall) being a possibility.
Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell was asked whether this was an abnormal year for running backs in the draft.
“I think so for depth, but also upper-echelon running backs,” Caldwell said.
