A Farewell to The Mayor
Fred Hoiberg created the Iowa State Cyclones into one of the best teams in the NCAA. The return of Hoiberg, nicknamed The Mayor, in 2010 brought Hilton Magic back to Ames. The 10-year NBA veteran and former executive with the Minnesota Timberwolves brought his knowledge and made the Cyclones run an NBA-style game. The Mayor lead the Cyclones to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, 2012-2015, for the first time in school history.
