Retired NFL Player With Memory Loss Writes Heartbreaking Song For His Daughters

This past Tuesday, retired former Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals tight end Ben Utecht told Congress that he has written a letter to his wife and daughters in the event there comes a day he can't remember who they are anymore.

"I wrote the letter on a plane ride home with the brim of my hat over my eyes to hide the tears as they began to flow,” the 32-year-old Utecht stated, via Sydney Lupkin of ABC News.

Utecht suffered a career-ending concussion in 2009, experiencing eight months of dizziness, amnesia, night sweats, and sleeplessness after his fifth and final documented major head injury playing football.

In addition to the letter, Utecht also penned this song to his family which is both gorgeous and heartbreaking in its sentiment:

Our thoughts and best wishes go out to Utecht and his entire family.
