OXFORD, Miss. – Indiana State men's and women's track & field hit the ground running in its outdoor season opener with several strong performances at Day One of the Joe Walker Invite at Ole Miss on Friday.
Senior Devyn Mikell, a two-time NCAA East Region qualifier in the long jump in 2015 and 2016, won the long jump at 7.18m (23-06.75) – currently the 16th-best in the East Region at this early point of the outdoor season.
Sophomore Cassaundra Roper came close to taking an event title of her own in the women's hammer, coming away the runner-up at a four-meter career-best.
