NORMAL — Illinois State baseball coach Bo Durkac sees a lot of potential in his group of freshman pitchers, and those hurlers have seen plenty of innings as a result.
Yet in Tuesday’s home opener at Duffy Bass Field, Redbird veteran hurlers showed they still have a lot to offer.
Four upperclassmen limited Saint Louis to seven hits, and Nick Zouras singled home the deciding run in the eighth inning to propel ISU to a 2-1 nonconference victory.
“We have really struggled on the mound this year, especially with our older guys,” Durkac said. “But they pitched extremely well today.
