GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Illinois State baseball team has earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, the organization recently announced.
Illinois State was one of just 36 Division I squads – and one of only two Missouri Valley Conference teams – to earn the distinction. Only teams posting a combined 3.0 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) or better during the 2016-17 academic year were eligible to earn the honor.
The Illinois State baseball team set a new team GPA record during the spring semester with a 3.47 team mark, marking the sixth-consecutive semester with a better team GPA.
