ISU's Wallace shoots 1-under, barely misses cut

SUGAR GROVE — An impressive round of 1-under par 71 in Sunday's third round of the NCAA Division I Championship nearly extended Illinois State sophomore Trent Wallace's season.

The standout sophomore missed the cut by one stroke and finished tied for 44th with an even-par total of 216 over three rounds at Rich Harvest Farms. He needed to be among the top nine golfers not on the 15 advancing teams to make the cut.

"Trent played like a champion today, and while he came up one shot short he certainly proved he is worthy of playing all four rounds and competing for a national championship," said ISU coach Ray Kralis.
