ISU's misery continues as Bradley breaks out early

PEORIA — Odd-numbered innings provided an even-numbered dose of misery for the Illinois State baseball team Friday at Dozer Park.

Bradley waylaid the Redbirds with six runs in the first inning, four in the third and two more in the fifth en route to a 13-3 Missouri Valley Conference victory.

The Braves (17-18, 3-4 in the MVC) hammered ISU starter Colton Johnson for a three-run home run from Derek Bangert and a two-run shot by J.F. Garon in the opening frame.

"You can't lay first-pitch fastballs in there to a good offensive club with power and expect to live to tell about it," Redbirds coach Bo Durkac said.
