On Sunday afternoon, Alabama offensive tackle Preston Mixon included Fighting Illini football in his Top 5. The 6-foot-4, 293-pound prospect is also considering Memphis, Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, and Nevada in addition to Illinois. Mixon went on to mention that he intends to take official visits to each of his finalists before reaching a decision.
Mixon is unranked by both 247Sports and Scout, but he holds over a dozen scholarship offers. Although, Illinois happens to be the only Power 5 school involved in his recruitment. I doubt that Lovie Smith has been heavily involved with Mixon, but he'll be a name to keep an eye on over the next month.
