The 3 Top Needs For The Texans In The 2015 NFL Draft

The Houston Texans narrowly missed out on the postseason this season but greatly improved from their 2-12 mark in 2013, and they're looking to improve their roster to get into the playoffs next year. What needs to they have to address in this year’s draft?

QUARTERBACK

Many thought Houston would address their dreadful quarterback situation in last year's draft, but they didn't and were forced to start Ryan Fitzpatrick for most of the season instead. Backup Ryan Mallett showed flashes of potentially being the guy, but he's a free agent and may sign elsewhere.

Unfortunately for the Texans, they're not at the top of the draft, so they'll miss out on Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston. There's a big drop off in the quarterback class after that, so they might wait until the second round to draft a QB. Baylor's Bryce Petty or Oregon State's Sean Mannion are the most likely options.

WIDE RECEIVER

Houston needs to find some depth at the wideout position behind an aging Andre Johnson and young star DeAndre Hopkins. This is one of the deepest wide receiver drafts in recent memory, so there are plenty of directions Houston can go. However, Louisville’s DeVante Parker and Stanford’s Ty Montgomery are the best options for the Texans if they want to take a receiver early.

OFFENSIVE LINE

Houston's offensive line is already solid, but they could use some more depth - especially at right tackle. The Texans wait until the middle rounds to draft one because it's not a desperate need, but there aren't many top quarterbacks or wideouts that will worth spending the 16th overall pick on. Brandon Scherff from Iowa and Cedric Ogbuehi from Texas A&M are the potential first-round draft picks if Houston chooses to go that route.
