2014 NFL Draft: Houston Texans Select Xavier Su'a-Filo

With the 33rd overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans have selected Xavier Su'a-Filo out of UCLA.

Position: Offensive Guard

Measurables: 6’4”, 307 lbs, 33 3/8” arm length, 9 3/8”

Xavier Su’a-Filo started every game from the Bruins in 2009, 2012, and 2013 -- taking 2010-11 off to serve an LDS mission in Alabama and Florida. Su’a-Filo started at left guard seven times, and left tackle six times for the Bruins in 2013 – winning the Morris Trophy as the most outstanding offensive lineman in the Pac-12. He benched 225 pounds 25 times and boasted a 4.44 second 20-yard shuttle time at the NFL Combine.

Su’a-Filo is an adept pass blocker, exploding out of his stance with both technique and power. He has solid hip rotation, and creates movement along the offensive line through deft footwork. Su’a-Filo instinctually understands how to combo block on the second level, intelligently using solid hand and footwork fundamentals to create holes upfield in the running game.
