The women’s basketball team will head south Wednesday to break their four-game losing streak when they face the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas. The Cougars are at 1-4 after winning their opener and dropping each game since.
Already struggling to close games, the Cougars suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss to the Mercer University Bears last Friday. The 64-60 game left head coach Ronald Hughey wanting more effort from his team.
“If we go down swinging and contesting, riding them and trying to get back in front of those drives, I’m completely happy with that effort on everything,” Hughey said after the game.
