One night after Pat Neshek gave up a game-winning two-run home run, the Mariners pounced on the righthanded reliever once again Wednesday at Minute Maid Park.
The Mariners took advantage of Neshek’s errant throw to first base on a routine sacrifice bunt to eventually pull away.
The Mariners scored two unearned runs off Neshek in the eighth and then added Logan Morrison’s three-run home run in the ninth off Josh Fields to beat the Astros 8-3 before a crowd of 18,669.
The AL West-leading Astros had won or tied 10 consecutive home series dating back to June 1 before dropping two of three against the lowly Mariners.
