The Houston Astros and second-round pick Joe Perez have agreed to terms on a contract, according to MLBPipeline.com's Jonathan Mayo. The club has not confirmed the report.

Perez, the No. 53 overall selection in the 2017 Draft, will receive a $1.6 million bonus from the Astros. The suggested slot value for the pick is just over $1.2 million.

Selected out of Archbishop McCarthy High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Perez possesses an upper-90s fastball that was considered one of the best in the Draft. The right-hander was a two-way player in high school, but the Astros plan to develop him as a third baseman.
