Florida governor signs bill paving way for new Astros spring training complex

Florida governor Rick Scott formally signed a bill Monday to free up the final 27 acres of land for the 160-acre site of the new spring training complex that will be shared by the Astros and Nationals in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Astros owner Jim Crane and Nationals general partner Art Fuccillo were among 40 local elected officials and dignitaries at the signing ceremony, the Palm Beach Post reported.

The Astros and Nationals plan to share the $135 million complex. The project is partly being financed by $113 million in hotel tax revenue.

The teams hope to have the site open for spring training in 2017.
