Astros’ Jose Altuve paces AL second basemen in all-star voting

Astros second baseman Jose Altuve leads all American League second basemen in All-Star voting as of Tuesday. Altuve, an All-Star in 2012 and 2014, has amassed 1,301,754 votes.

Altuve is aiming to become just the seventh player in Astros history to be voted as an All-Star starter. The others are Craig Biggio (1995-98) and Jeff Kent (2004) at second base, first basemen Lee May (1972), Jeff Bagwell (1997) and Lance Berkman (2008), and outfielder Cesar Cedeno (1973). All of those players were elected to start for the National League. The Astros have not had an All-Star starter elected since moving to the AL in 2013.
