Packers roll out green and gold carpet for young fan fighting cancer

Longtime Green Bay Packers fan Josh Darland has been fighting a rare form of cancer for five years, with four rounds of chemotherapy treatment and six surgeries since he was diagnosed at age 17.

When friends — and total strangers — from his hometown of Story City, Iowa, found out his cancer had advanced this summer, they flew in to action and gave him a weekend free of hospital visits and tough news from doctors.

They gave him the royal Packers treatment.

Darland, his parents and brother got tickets to the preseason game Saturday vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, rare on-field passes, a tailgating party, tickets to the Champions Tour of Lambeau Field and a visit from Packers defensive lineman Mike Daniels.
