Packers GM Ted Thompson plays 'Let's Make a Deal'

Green Bay — In his first three years as Green Bay Packers general manager, Ted Thompson rarely even thought about moving up in the draft to chase a player he liked.

Back in those days, he was trying to rebuild a roster that had fallen apart under the poor drafting of Mike Sherman and so the more picks he had the faster he thought he could turn the team around.

His first 11 draft trades all were moves backward with the Packers giving up their selection to someone else in exchange for multiple picks.
