Gonzaga senior Jordan Mathews was name to the Jerry West Award Watch List, an annual award given out to the best shooting guard in the NCAA each year.

It is a relatively new award, named after the famed Jerry West, and has been given out the past two years. Previous winners are Buddy Hield (2016) and D’Angelo Russell (2015).

Mathews is expected to make a huge impact for the Zags in his final season of collegiate basketball. He averaged 11.8 points per game over his three seasons at Cal, while hitting 41.7 percent of his shots.

Mathews, combined with fellow transfer Nigel Williams-Goss, should help stabilize a Gonzaga backcourt that still has potential, but struggled mightily last season.
