Gonzales is shown as a Zag and a Cardinal just one season apart. The former GU standout made a quick leap to the majors and played a key role for St. Louis in the 2014 playoffs.

After a hot streak in Triple-A with the Tacoma Raniers, Gonzales struggled in his debut against the Kansas City Royals, going four innings, surrendering five earned runs on seven hits, adding five strikeouts and one walk. While Gonzales’ start resulted in a no-decision, the Mariners prevailed 8-7 over the Royals.

The subpar outing for Gonzales continues a longtime trend of struggling in the majors after thriving in Triple-A.
