Warriors Notebook: News & Notes Heading Into A Three-Game Road Trip

The Golden State Warriors made good in the second game of a back-to-back on Thursday, putting a 112-110 road loss to the Denver Nuggets behind them in a 116-98 home win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Golden State spoiled the final NBA game for Kobe Bryant in Dubs territory, as Stephen Curry hit threes on his first eight made field goals en route to 26 points. Bryant had eight points and six rebounds in 27.5 minutes, looking visibly hobbled as the Warriors ran the Lakers ragged from end to end.

With the win, Golden State is tied for the best 40-game start to an NBA season at 37-3.

Golden State opens a three-game road trip in Detroit on Saturday against a Pistons team that is 21-18 overall, but with a sterling 13-6 home record to their credit. The heavy-hitting showdowns on this trip come on Monday (Cleveland) and Wednesday (Chicago), but it behooves the Warriors not to look past a Pistons squad that is experiencing a resurgence under head coach Stan Van Gundy.

FULL PREVIEW: Warriors at Pistons

Overall, this may be the Warriors' toughest road trip of the season -- Detroit, Cleveland, and Chicago have a combined 44-13 home record. If Golden State gets out of this East Coast swing with three wins, it'll be an EXTREMELY impressive feat.

News & Notes

Harrison Barnes will get the start on Saturday night in Detroit, per a team announcement.

Golden State's San Francisco arena plans will be delayed until at least 2019, according to a San Jose Mercury News report.

Stephen Curry has some competition in our very own Brian Rauf's 2015-16 NBA MVP Power Rankings.

The Warriors are as healthy as they've been in awhile coming into Saturday's game against the Pistons.

Stat Of The Day

Stephen Curry (50.7%) is one of just two guards shooting over 50% from the field in 2015-16, joining San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker (53.4%). However, Parker's 2.7% lead in FG percentage belies the fact that Curry is taking 9.2 more shots per game (19.4 to 10.2).

Hitting at 50% at such a high volume AS A GUARD is the reason why Curry is still the prohibitive favorite for his second straight MVP award.
