Warriors News: Stephen Curry Isn't Interested In Testing Free Agency In 2017

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry will be a free agent in 2017, but he doesn't plan on going anywhere when his contract is up.

"As I am thinking right now, free agency isn't really appealing to me because I love where I'm at, love the organization I'm playing for and the Bay Area is home for me and my family," Curry told the Sporting News.

Curry is currently just the team's fifth-highest paid player with a $11.37 million salary for the 2015-16 season - not a bad bargain for the league MVP. He can earn a five-year max contract worth $30 million per season in free agency, but he doesn't want to be too focused on the long term.

"I think the best approach for me is to try and stay as in the moment as possible," he said. "It helps being world champs, and you want to continue to build the momentum that we've established and I hope to have a huge part of that in the long term."
