Warriors Free Agency Rumors Roundup For July 5th

What's the next step for the Golden State Warriors with the first weekend of NBA free agency winding to a close? Find out in our Warriors Free Agency Rumors Roundup For July 5th.

Warriors On The Lookout For Bench Scoring

SF Luke Babbitt, SG Wayne Ellington, and former Warriors SG Jason Richardson are all free-agent options for the Warriors as they look for a second-unit shooter to pair with the likes of Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguodala.

While the team originally worried that it would have to use its $3.4 million taxpayer exception to find such a shooter, SFGate's Rusty Simmons reports that one, if not all of the above options could be had for the veteran minimum.

David West A Fit In Oakland?

The Warriors were briefly mentioned as a potential suitor for veteran forward David West after he opted out of his $12 million 2015-16 player option with the Indiana Pacers in hopes of landing with a contender. Now, it appears the Spurs and Cavs are the true frontrunners for his services, but Segun Giwa of Blue Man Hoop doesn't want the Dubs to give up hope just yet.

West would fit in well with Golden State. His ability to operate in the low post and elbow area would give the Warriors an offensive option to go to when their shooters go cold (see West Conference. Semifinals vs. Grizzlies, NBA Finals vs. Cavaliers), instead of hoisting threes, waiting for them to fall in.

A lot of this may hinge on just what happens with David Lee, but file this away as a longshot for now.

Kevin Durant A Target In 2016?

The Warriors are reportedly already mulling over Steph Curry's free agency two summers from now, and there's one name they could target next summer to create a major added incentive for Curry to re-sign on the dotted line -- Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant.

According to Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News, "the Warriors would love to be a featured part of the Durant discussion as a possible sign-and-trade destination."

Regardless of the foot issues that made 2014-15 a lost season of sorts for Durant, the Warriors are one of a cavalcade of teams who will likely be connected to Durant on several occasions over the next year before 2016 free agency kicks into gear.
