So how will the Warriors do with coach Steve Kerr sidelined with a painful back ailment for possibly the entire playoffs?

Because of the way Kerr has laid the foundation, the Warriors are set up to succeed even if he doesn’t come back.

“At the coach’s meetings and his practices, it’s not his voice 80 percent of the time,” Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers said Wednesday on 95.7 The Game’s Afternoon Delight with Greg Papa and Vontae Hill. “It’s a horizontal leadership here, not as vertical as it as some places.”

For that reason, handing over the reigns to replacement coach Mike Brown won’t be as much as a challenge as it will for other organizations.
